Pump Street: small size, big impact in packaging

Pump Street and Lareka met in 2021. The challenge at the time was to help Pump Street optimise their packaging process. This resulted in the purchase of our BTB25. With one format set, it was possible to wrap the entire assortment of 70-gram bars on one machine. They also added a Modular Sticker Unit to the machine. Pump Street could now seamlessly wrap their bars style without the need for employees to manually wrap their chocolate bars. 

At the beginning of this year, Pump Street and Lareka came together again. Pump Street wanted to offer customers its chocolate in a smaller, 20-gram format. To be able to wrap this product on the BTB25, they ordered an extra format set for the 20-gram product. The challenge facing Pump Street and Lareka was to enable Pump Street to retain its unique brand identity and transfer this to a smaller canvas. 

Due to the modular design of the BTB25, it was possible to design and add this 20-gram format set years after Pump Street purchased their original wrapping machine. In addition, the format set could be designed and built in the head office in Valkenswaard without Pump Street needing to return its machine to our factory. This prevented any loss in production capacity during the development of the new size part set. The result says it all!

This collaboration with Pump Street is a nice case study for us, not only to emphasise the versatility of our machines but also to underline the importance of investing in technology that can keep pace with a company’s growth. The second size set is now in production to the satisfaction of Pump Street, enabling them to easily switch between wrapping the 70-gram bars and the new 20-gram bars in just 20 minutes, thus maximizing their production possibilities with no significant downtime.
